Press Council announces appointment of two new Council members

The Chairman of the Press Council, Dáithí O’Ceallaigh, today (02 May 2012) announced the appointment of two new members of the Press Council of Ireland, who will serve for a three-year term.

The new independent member is Ms Patricia Sisk, who replaces Mr Eamonn Mac Aodha, Chief Executive of the Irish Human Rights Commission, who resigned following his recent appointment as Irish Ambassador to Belgium. Ms Sisk, who is from Cork is a barrister, mediator, and psychotherapist.

The new industry representative is Ms Norah Casey. Ms Casey replaces Ms Rosemary Delaney of Women Mean Business as industry representative from Magazines Ireland. Ms Casey is CEO of Harmonia Publications.

Announcing the new appointments, Mr.O’Ceallaigh said “I am delighted to welcome the new members to the Press Council. They bring a great diversity of experiences to the Council.”
