Decided by the Press Ombudsman

The Press Ombudsman has decided that the Limerick Post took sufficient action to resolve a complaint that Principle 1 (Truth and Accuracy) and Principle 4 (Respect for Rights) of the Code of Practice of the Press Council of Ireland had been breached. A complaint that Principle 2 (Distinguishing Fact and Comment) had been breached was not upheld.

The Press Ombudsman has not upheld a complaint that the Longford Leader breached Principle 1 (Truth and Accuracy), Principle 3 (Fair Procedures and Honesty), Principle 5 (Privacy), Principle 7 (Court Reporting) and Principle 9 (Children) of the Code of Practice of the Press Council of Ireland.

The Press Ombudsman has not upheld a complaint that the Irish Examiner breached Principle 1 (Truth and Accuracy), Principle 3  (Fair Procedures and Honesty), Principle 4 (Respect for Rights) and Principle 5 (Privacy) of the Code of Practice of the Press Council of Ireland.

The Press Ombudsman has decided that the Irish Examiner took sufficient action to resolve part of a complaint that Principle 1 (Truth and Accuracy) of the Code of Practice of the Press Council of Ireland had been breached.   Another part of the complaint was not upheld.

The Press Ombudsman has decided not to uphold a complaint that the Irish Daily Star breached Principle 1 (Truth and Accuracy) and Principle 5 (Privacy) of the Code of Practice of the Press Council of Ireland

A complaint that Principle 2 (Distinguishing Fact and Comment) and Principle 8 (Prejudice) were breached was not upheld.
