Decided by the Press Ombudsman

The Press Ombudsman has not upheld a complaint made by a woman that The Southern Star breached Principle 1 (Truth and Accuracy), Principle 3 (Fair Procedures and Honesty) and Principle 7 (Court Reporting) of the Code of Practice of the Press Council of Ireland.

The Press Ombudsman has upheld a complaint that The Herald breached Principle 5 (Privacy) of the Code of Practice of the Press Council of Ireland.

The Press Ombudsman has not upheld a complaint by Mr Niall Doyle that the Sunday World breached Principle 1 (Truth and Accuracy), Principle 2 (Distinguishing Fact and Comment), Principle 3 (Fair Procedures and Honesty), Principle 4 (Respect for Rights) and Principle 7 (Court Reporting) of the Code of Practice of the Press Council of Ireland.  

The Press Ombudsman has upheld a complaint by Professor Tom Butler that The Irish Times breached Principle 1 (Truth and Accuracy) of the Code of Practice of the Press Council of Ireland.

The Press Ombudsman has not upheld a complaint by Mr Raymond Kilbride that The Sunday Times breached Principle 1 (Truth and Accuracy) of the Code of Practice of the Press Council of Ireland.

The Press Ombudsman has not upheld a complaint made by Mr Niall Doyle that The Anglo-Celt breached the Code of Practice of the Press Council of Ireland.

The Press Ombudsman has decided that The Irish Times offered to take action which was sufficient to resolve a complaint by Pagan Federation Ireland that Principle 2 (Distinguishing Fact and Comment), Principle 4 (Respect for Rights) and Principle 8 (Prejudice) of the Code of Practice of the Press Council of Ireland had been breached.

The Press Ombudsman has not upheld a complaint by Ryanair that the Irish Daily Star breached Principle 1 (Truth and Accuracy) and Principle 3 (Fair Procedures and Honesty) of the Code of Practice of the Press Council of Ireland.
